Whoopi Goldberg Surprises ‘Aladdin’ on Broadway With Genie Performance

Whoopi Goldberg surprised the cast of Broadway’s Aladdin when she showed up at the New Amsterdam Theatre to join in the show.

Whoopi’s friend James Monroe Iglehart, who won the Tony Award for Best Featured Performance in a Musical, for the role of the Genie, is leaving the show.  Before he departed, Whoopi wanted to share the stage and have some fun in the multi-million dollar production that opened in 2014.  It has since opened in London’s West End and also in Australia. When the audience realised, they went wild.  James even took a selfie with Whoopi.

Presenting on The View for ABC US television network is Whoopi Goldberg’s day job, but she has appeared in musicals before.  Sister Act was a massive movie hit for her in 1992.
