VIDEO: Backstage at The Other Palace with Artistic Director Paul Taylor-Mills

After extensive renovations, undertaken by the new owner of the St James Theatre, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, the theatre will now be called The Other Palace.

John Bowles met with the new Artistic Director – Paul Taylor-Mills – in the studio as the final touches were going on.

The Other Palace will become a place of incubation, experimentation and development for new musicals.  And to kick-start the first season Paul Taylor-Mills has announced an exciting line-up of shows.

THE OTHER PALACELaChiusa’s The Wild Party, directed and choreographed by Drew McOnie and starring Frances Ruffelle – February 11 to April 1, with press night on February 20.

Spring Awakening composer Duncan Sheik – April 6 to May 27, with press night on April 18.

La Strada, a stage adaptation of the film of the same name, directed by Sally Cookson – May 30 to July 8, with press night on May 31.

The National Youth Music Theatre will also stage two productions at the venue.

John Bowles, having started his career on Australian variety television at the age of ten, had notched up 300 hours of live national TV by the age of sixteen. As an adult he has gone on to star in many theatrical productions such as ‘Phantom of the Opera’ and ‘Cats’.
